Conor McClure is a recent graduate of Graphic Design and Illustration and is currently part of the Artist-in-Residency programme at Ulster University. He works as a freelance illustrator, concentrating on the music industry and editorial design. His work in the music sphere deals with a broad range of elements, from a series of prints of old school hip hop artists, logos for up and coming punk bands, to album designs for local Irish folk artists.
He will be undertaking a large-scale live drawing/doodling extravaganza, demonstrating the processes used in his work. These will include the path taken from his initial ideas and sketches to final digital design. Along the way he will show how he uses a range of techniques including pen, ink, spray paint, screen print, digital painting and typography. He will explain the fine balance in his work between his expressive, often hectic and 'messy' drawing style, and the refined clean cut and considered design.
