For those of you who enjoyed Sampler-Cultureclash’s wonderful sonic collage in 2012, David returns with a new collaboration created especially for this year’s Festival.
Is She Blew? Is a sonic and visual foray into the sound of linen: where the sounds of making and machines meet traditional songs, music and digital technologies. Featuring traditional singer, author and collector of songs Maurice Leyden; Brendan Monaghan, one of the world’s leading Uilleann pipers, alongside digital artists Jiann Hughes, Paul Moore and Robert Martin. The performance is linked to a project being undertaken by Trish Belford and Liz Nilsson with workshops and collaborations between 6 Irish and 6 Swedish textile designers. The group has been working on a textile response to the sounds of linen during a workshop held at R-Space in the preceeding days. This project will be introduced at the performance.
David Littler is an artist, curator and DJ, based in London. He was a freelance print textile designer and worked for a variety of couture fashion houses around the world. But latterly he has created 'sampler-cultureclash' to combine his two passions – music and textiles. It is a collective of DJs, embroiderers, sound artists, textile designers and more. It connects textiles and sound along with the cultures of embroidery and DJing.
In conjunction with R-Space Gallery, Lisburn. Is She Blew? Exhibition continues until 14 March 2015.
